P2P Sept 2010 - Gauteng - Sat 18th, Sun 19th, Mon 20th

Saturday 18th

The weekend was no let up for the team and we managed to cover most of the items on our program. On Saturday morning the team split into two groups. One group organized and facilitated the street fun event in the Esselen Park section of Tembisa. It was great fun as over 40 children turned up to enjoy games, face painting and singing in one of the streets in Esselen Park. The second group held a Bible Study morning at the Aphiwe community center. Sisters Leona and Julie baby sat the orphans from Yolande's home of safety so that Yolande and her husband could attend the Bible class. After lunch the team re-united and set off for an afternoon excursion to the Lion and Rhino park. It was a super time as lot of animals were seen and they got to play with lion cubs. The tour of the wonder cave was also interesting and fun.
Sunday 19th
Sunday morning started off with the team helping with the Sunday School at the Aphiwe community center. Over 40 children attended and the Eggintons and Russels led the classes. Our meeting at Kempton Park followed and the hall was quite packed with all the visitors. Bro. Andrew Russels exhortation was very edifying. After the meeting the team drove over to Centurion for lunch at Bro. Mickey Scheepers house. We then attended the Pretoria satellite meeting and were joined by the members of the Pretoria Central meeting. On our return to Kempton Park we met Bro. Ray and Sister Dana Pratt and sister Jennifer from the USA who had arrived from Chicago to join our team for the week ahead.
Monday 20th
It was time to reward the team with a special treat for all their hard work - a day trip to the Pilansberg Nature reserve. After a travel prayer three cars set off at 5:30 am for a two hour drive to the Pilansberg. We arrived safely at 7:30 and then had a fantastic day in the Pilansberg. There was great fellowship and discussions in the cars while we drove around in the park and enjoyed God's wonderful creation. The highlight of the day was seeing a herd of elephants swimming and thoroughly having a ball in a dam. We were back in KMP at 9pm ready to get some good rest for the busy week that lie ahead and mindful of how amazingly good God has been to us all the past week.
